How to Offer $X Off of Shipping Cost
Set up discounts for shipping charges over a specific amount in ShipperHQ
Table of Contents
Overview
Want to offer a shipping discount to your customers? 😊 You can provide a fixed dollar amount off of the shipping cost, allowing customers to cover any remaining balance if the cost exceeds the discount. For example, offering customers $100 off shipping: if the shipping cost is $85, ShipperHQ adjusts the shipping cost to $0. But if it's $110, the customer pays $10.
Steps
- Go to Shipping Rules and click the +New button.
- In the Basic tab, name your rule something like "Free shipping up to $100."
- Under the Shipping Methods section, choose the Shipping Methods to apply this rule to, such as UPS Ground.
- In the Actions tab, under "Action to Perform," set I want to... to "Modify the Price of my selected Shipping Methods" and In Order to... to "Surcharge or Discount Rates" by a Flat Rate.
- Enter "-100" for the flat rate and set And Apply This Rate to "Per Cart."
- In the Conditions tab, specify any applicable conditions for the rule. For example, apply the $100 shipping discount only to certain Shipping Groups, Filters, or Shipping Zones.
- Save and test the rule.
💡 By following these steps, ShipperHQ will automatically subtract $100 from rates associated with the methods chosen in step 3. If the shipping cost is under $100, it sets the rate to $0. If the rate exceeds $100, the customer covers the excess.
