USPS First Class Package International Service
Set up dimensional weight rating for USPS First Class International shipments in ShipperHQ
Overview
Table of ContentsAs of January 24th, 2021, USPS has updated its requirements for the First Class Package International Service shipping method. Previously, USPS allowed rating for this method based on weight alone. Now, it can only be rated by dimensional weight. To retrieve this rate from USPS, the package must meet the following criteria:
- Length (longest side): Minimum 6 inches, maximum 24 inches
- Height: Minimum 4 inches
- Length + height + depth: Maximum 36 inches
- Weight: Maximum 4 lbs
Configuration
In ShipperHQ, you'll need to configure box sizes that meet the requirements above. If an order can pack into one of those boxes, it can ship with the First Class International Packing Service method. To do this, enable the dimensional packing advanced feature.
Enable this feature by navigating to 'Advanced Features' in your ShipperHQ dashboard and switching the 'Dimensional Packing' slider to green. 😊
Keep in mind that enabling this feature will activate dimensional weight rating for all carriers. By clicking the settings button on the dimensional packing feature, you can specify which carriers will use dimensional packing.
Enabling dimensional packing will affect the rates you see returned, as you'll now rate by dimensional weight rather than just weight. However, with proper configuration, you can achieve a more accurate rating, closely matching the rates you pay for the shipments. ✅
