Same Day Delivery Custom Carrier

Enable same day delivery by setting up customized local carrier options for your customers

Table of Contents

Overview

This article will guide you through creating a Same Day Carrier to offer your customers a delivery option using one or two flat rate shipping methods. This is especially beneficial if you use your own delivery truck or a local carrier and can deliver products on the same day. You can also allow customers to choose delivery options for the next day if same-day slots are full. 😊

Setting up a Same Day Delivery option

  1. On the "Carriers" page, select "+New"
  2. Choose Custom Rate Carrier from the pop-up menu.
  3. Select "Same Day Delivery" as the custom carrier you are setting up and name your carrier. Note: This name will appear to customers at checkout and can be changed anytime.
  4. The carrier will now be added to ShipperHQ. You can configure it further or return later to complete or modify the setup.

Configuring the Carrier

Once on the Basic panel, ensure you have selected an "Attached Origin" and provided a suitable Carrier Title that will be displayed to customers. This will auto-fill with the Carrier Name you previously selected.

On the Basic panel, focus on these two segments:

  • Shipping Rates
  • Date/Time Settings

Shipping Rates

Here, decide on a name for the shipping method that customers will see and define the associated charge. Choose whether the charge applies Per Order, Per Item, or Per Package. If a customer places an order late in the day, or delivery capacity is full, select the "Show Next Day" checkbox so they can view next-day delivery options.

Date/Time Settings

Make key selections here such as the last dispatch time, lead time for order preparation, and days or dates when same-day delivery isn't available.

Add Blackout Delivery Dates and Days

The Black Out Dates field is pre-filled with common public holidays for the current year. Remember to update blackout dates for the next year.

Additional Options

For setting up shipping options that adjust flat rates based on weight, price, or quantity, refer to the Custom Defined Carrier article to create a Custom Carrier. If you require live rates with carriers like FedEx, UPS, or USPS, follow the linked documentation for setting up live rate carriers.
