Setting Up ShipperHQ for BigCommerce
The first step to getting started with ShipperHQ for BigCommerce is to install the ShipperHQ BigCommerce App. After installing the app, you'll access the ShipperHQ dashboard from inside BigCommerce. Now, you can proceed with setting up the most important parts of your ShipperHQ configuration.
Websites
Your Website in ShipperHQ is already set up for BigCommerce. It contains your URL, and it determines which Origins you ship from and which Carriers you want to offer to your customers. You can manage the default Origin for your site right there.
Origins
Origins are the physical locations from which you ship your products. Although a test origin is set up for you, you should edit it to change its name and address to reflect your primary shipping location. If you ship from multiple locations, set up multiple Origins, and associate them with specific Carriers to reflect different shipping options.
Carriers
In ShipperHQ, Carriers are any shipping options or services you offer to your customers. This includes connections with actual carriers like UPS, Australia Post, DHL, or customized shipping options such as In-Store Pickup or flat rate shipping. If connecting to a carrier, enter your account credentials to pull back the rates you’ve negotiated. You can also manage the shipping services offered, set up restrictions, and control package weights and shipping charges.
Carrier Rules
The core of ShipperHQ's customizability is our Carrier Rules. You can define Zones, Shipping Groups, or Filters and set up scenarios for specific actions. Whether it's offering Free Shipping for certain products or hiding options like UPS for customers with PO Box addresses, Carrier Rules cater to your unique requirements.
Dimensional Shipping
ShipperHQ's Dimensional Shipping feature helps define the packages you use and determines the most efficient packaging based on product dimensions.
Packing Rules
For products requiring unique packing, Packing Rules let you set exclusive packaging scenarios. For instance, ship orders containing Ice Cream in a cooler while using regular boxes for other orders.
Box Definitions
In ShipperHQ, Box Definitions allow you to set package dimensions and additional settings like max quantity, max weight, or surcharges. Boxes can also be assigned to specific carriers to optimize rate calculations.
Linking Your Products to ShipperHQ
Once you install the ShipperHQ app in BigCommerce, you'll find new elements on your products. These enable you to assign products to the correct Origin, Shipping Groups, or Dimensional Rule Group.
